Valentine's Day is coming up and people feel as if they're obliged to have a Valentine date and/or are furious if they don't. I don't get it. I don't see anything special about this day at all. You might say it's dumb for me to say this since I prepared a couple of things for my partner but seriously, it's just like any other day. Sure, people might envy seeing couples go out on dates and have a romantic time, but is that only what it's about? Okay, fine so it is.. but don't be so desperate. People on Facebook, Twitter and all other Social Networking sites are ranting about how they're single and the big heart's day is coming up. It's just one day. Stay at home. Sleep through it. Wake up and the day will be over. It's going to be that quick. Don't act as if having a date on the 14th or not will define your life forever.
If you're single, it's okay. No one is going to laugh at you. Don't feel bad about it. IT'S JUST ONE DAY we are all made to believe to spend our money on romantic things that will either make our partners suffer from diabetes or have them suffer from pollen allergies. Like the saying goes, don't look for someone who you'll be spending Valentine's with. Look for someone who you'll spend your whole life with.
I am not saying we shouldn't celebrate Valentine's. I am just saying that if you have a date, good for you. If you don't, don't feel bad about it. Don't force yourself into looking for someone for that one particular day. I am sure you'll be better off doing other productive things, anyway.
Instead of complaining about what you don't have, think about the many other things you are blessed with and be thankful for them.
Next time you find yourself frowning upon things that aren't worth your time, remember this.
