If you are one of those who stand against her, then buddy we do not meet eye to eye.
To those who are not familiar with what happened, last Saturday, Lady Gaga arrived in the Philippines for her concert on May 21 - 22. She was welcomed warmly by fans and coldly by protesters. A group of Christians had picket signs, t-shirts that were, if not a waste of money, a waste of time and effort. These people protested against her because of her "demonic" lyrics in songs such as 'Judas'. It promotes blasphemy, do you say? And it meddles with your conducts and values? Okay, I hear you. Former Manila Mayor Jose Atienza says she can get arrested for "offending race and religion". Yes, it is under the Philippine law that you can be sentenced up to 6 years for that but there hasn't been any past convictions. The most corrupt government officials get away with cases - CASES THAT ABUSE THE CITIZENS OF THE COUNTRY. I am sure Lady Gaga who wishes to express herself and sing to her fans won't do any harm. Aren't we being a little hypocritical here?

I love Lady Gaga, I am going to tell you that. I am also going to tell you that my support for her and my argument as to why I think she's harmless isn't because I am some fan. I am both an artist and a Catholic. I can speak for both sides.
As an artist and a liberal, I believe expression is vital in one's existence. Expression brings out the best in us. It shows how creative we can get but it shouldn't be the basis of people's judgement. Just because someone expresses him/herself in a certain way, it doesn't mean that is all this person is. There is more to one that meets the eye, right? I grew up in a world where judging is taken for granted. The hypocrisy doesn't surprise me. If any, I have become so used to it. She prays before going up on stage. She put up a foundation against bullying. Or if you are "too nationalistic", she commended Maria Aragon for her version of Born This Way. Lady Gaga is an artist. For me, she is an inspiration. I don't look up to her but I think she's doing a good job. How many artists do we see singing about what is going on in the world? She is just getting the message out there. Also, you have to admit, she is very, very creative. Don't tell me her meat costumes disgust you because you are a vegetarian. Or her bubble costumes are plain wrong because you think plastic is bad for the earth. To each his own and to be honest, you got to give her credit for being able to pull that off. Her choice of lyrics may not be flawless and full of virtues like your Hillsong United or Casting Crowns but do you really have to protest against her? Is it her fault your children are easily influenced by media or anything they hear or see without making fair judgement?
Now as a person with a Catholic belief and Catholic values, I think any Christian or any person's values or virtues SHOULD NOT BE DEPENDENT ON MEDIA. Why are you saying that her songs mess with your virtues? DON'T LISTEN TO HER SONGS THEN. It's that easy. If there is anything unpleasant with your virtues as a person, blame your parents for not teaching you how to stand by those Christian virtues. Blame anything or anyone but Gaga. Gaga is a new artist. I am sure that you have been a Christian / Catholic with virtues for most of your life. Why does this 2-night concert have to affect you so badly? If you are that easy to break, then let's take a close look at those foundations, eh? I don't know about you but what I believe is that each of us is entitled to a choice - you can either let media affect you and change your views or have a strong faith in Him. We all know that if your faith is as strong as you say it is, you can never go wrong in Christ. Nothing can change you unless you let it.
This isn't about you against Gaga or the media.
This is about you against how impenetrable your faith is.

"Liking Lady Gaga's songs won't make you a demon.
Same as listening to Hillsong's music won't make you a saint."
